- Adding protection to a subpanel: Homeowners who have installed a second electrical panel, known as a subpanel, may opt to install two surge protectors to keep both panels safe from power surges. - Available warranties: Your surge protector will likely have two warranties associated with it: a part warranty and a labor warranty. Labor warranties are covered by the contractor who installed the system. Part warranties are warranties offered by the manufacturer of the surge protector.
