- Water heater type: Whole-home tankless units provide hot water to all plumbing fixtures in your home, while point-of-use (POU) units only provide hot water for a single appliance or area (like the kitchen or laundry room). Some homes just need one whole-home unit. Other homes require a whole-home unit paired with multiple POU units to support hot water appliances that are too far from the whole-home unit, or to support appliances that have high flow rates (like a shower). The more units you need for your home, the more you’ll pay.
- Fuel type: Natural gas tankless units are more expensive upfront compared to electric tankless units, but natural gas tankless units are also cheaper to operate (which means lower energy bills).
- Flow rate: Flow rate refers to how many gallons of hot water the unit can provide in a minute. The higher the flow rate, the more expensive the tankless unit. Our plumbers will help you determine what flow rate you need for your family’s hot water needs.
- Labor factors: If the plumber needs to add a gas line or modify your home’s plumbing, then the cost to install your tankless unit will increase.
